Job Summary: The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory therapy care and life support to patients by prescription and under the supervision of a physician and the Director of Respiratory Care or designee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides ventilator care, secretion mobilization treatments, and other treatments as ordered by physician.
- Provides all aspects of airway care, maintenance and education.
- Performs breathing assessments and mechanics as needed for all purposes as ordered by physician.
- Interprets Orders - Draws and analyzes arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosage.
- Participates in ambulation and mobility.
- Charts all pertinent information on patient's chart.
- Assists in bedside Bronchoscopy.
- Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems and aerosol generators.
- May act in the role of Charge Therapist and carry out shift responsibilities as assigned.
- Assists in the orientation and training of students, new staff members, patients, families and care.
- Active member of code team – responds to emergencies and provides care, CPR, airway maintenance including intubation.
- Represents Respiratory Care as a member of the multidisciplinary patient care team.
- Evaluates patients upon admission & discharge.
Requirements:
- Associate's of Science degree required
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred
- Current RRT Certificate required
- Current CT RCP license required
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certifications required
WORK SCHEDULE: 36 hours, days, 3-12 hour shifts, 7a - 7:30p including every other weekend and holiday
