The Legislative Services Division of the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is seeking Per Diem attorneys to work in preparation for, and during, the 2025 Regular Legislative Session. The attorney will be primarily responsible for drafting legislation for members of the West Virginia Legislature. The attorney will work with legislative staff to ensure bill requests are drafted accurately and are of high quality. Successful candidates will have strong legal research and writing skills and be able to quickly learn and apply bill drafting standards. Per Diem attorneys will begin working in late November 2024 until the end of the legislative session in April 2025. These positions typically work 7-hours a day from Monday through Friday, but some weekend days will be required during session when necessary. Prior legislative drafting experience preferred, but not required. Attorney must be licensed to practice law in West Virginia.
