The CNO has engaged our firm to help them identify a clinical superstar to head up a new initiative for one of their most important and largest clinical areas. They have 10 ORs and the position will have responsibility for the surgical areas and work with some great staff...we know we placed several!
The position is very highly visible within the system.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
The Nurse Navigator/Educator for surgical services reports to Chief Nursing Officer. Under limited supervision, the Nurse Navigator/Educator serves as the subject matter expert on nursing management of surgical patients across the continuum of care (perioperative, intraoperative, postoperative, and transitional discharge follow up phase. A significant component of this role will be to oversee Ingalls ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) program thereby exhibiting a strong knowledge of the principles and practices related to ERAS, education of all relevant stakeholders and direct patient care providers in the elements and benefits of ERAS principles and practices. This position will collaborate with all relevant stakeholders and direct patient care providers to create highly reliable systems ensuring this receives the element of ERAS.
Education:
·Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required
·Master’s degree in Nursing from an NLN accredited school of nursing is required.
·Progressive experience and advanced knowledge in the specialized area of peri-operative clinical nursing.
Skills:
·Analytical ability is required.
·Ability to interpret complex organizational systems.
·Communication skill is required in order to lead and teach.
·Interact effectively with others in difficult situations
Experience:
·A minimum of three years clinical nursing experience in surgical nursing.
·Acute clinical care with a focus on surgical care and navigation of the patient across the continuum of care.
·Experience in delivering patient centered care and ensuring an exceptional experience for patient and their family.
