Evaluates Cardiac and Pulmonary patients and formulates a nursing plan of care; implements the plan; evaluates the patient’s and families nursing care needs; provides health educational needs for patients, significant others, and physicians; manages patient care assignments; demonstrates professional and clinical competence; provides age-specific patient care; supports program compliance and maintenance of all records and logs; provides daily clinical nursing services on a PRN basis.
Education and Credentials:
- Diploma, Associate or Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
- One year of recent and relevant experience in a Coronary Care or intensive care setting or Cardiac Rehabilitation.
- Current and valid license with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation; current CPR and ACLS certifications required.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- A strong command of knowledge required to manage Cardiac and Pulmonary patients.
- Ability to navigate and effectively utilize the software and technology used in the department.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Motor coordination to work with equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Plans and executes Cardiac Rehabilitation services of the hospital under the direction of the immediate supervisor.
- Handles all communication with patients, Medical Staff, Board of Directors, visitors, and other staff members courteously, compassionately, and professionally.
- Assists the Director and completes tasks to ensure compliance.
- Performs all duties timely, completely, and independently, including delegated tasks.
- Responds to changes in workload and demonstrates an ability to recognize and deal with priorities promptly.
- Performs all job duties in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and the PMH Corporate Compliance program.
- Demonstrates understanding of the department’s skills checklists, competencies, and current performance indicators and contributes to their completion, as applicable to the position.
- Coordinates patient scheduling as needed.
- Serves as a resource to members of the clinical team in understanding the needs of the patient population as defined in the department scope of services.
- Incorporates patient teaching into professional practice according to the individual patient’s/family’s needs.
Other Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates accountability for staff under their direct supervision.
- Understands and applies emergency plan codes and procedures.
- Maintains a neat and safe work area; removes and/or reports any equipment malfunctions, facility hazards, and building fixture repairs.
