LPN/RN Unit Manager Job Duties:
- Monitors facility clinical systems to facilitate quality resident care.
- Delivers basic nursing care to residents in accordance with care plans.
- Directs and develops RNs, LPNs, and CNAs on the unit.
- Conducts ongoing assessments of residents to identify care needs.
- Works with the ADON and DON to resolve grievances related to resident care.
- Documents interventions and resident or family education efforts.
- Conducts rounds to assess resident conditions and clinical practices.
- Accurately documents nursing care notes in resident charts.
- Performs medication administration and IV duties as ordered by a physician.
- Monitors progress of residents and suggests treatment plans.
- Observes resident behavior and reports findings to nursing supervisors.
- Completes resident incident reports upon identifying changes in conditions.
- Monitors residents’ skin to identify the risk of pressure sores.
- Responsible for a variety of nursing administrative duties.
- Places medication and refill orders as needed.
- Takes inventory of narcotics and monitors emergency kits.
- Performs shift change reports with the previous shift nurses.
- Understands and follows procedures for admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
- May assist in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of qualified team members.
- Provides expectations and monitors performance of nursing staff.
- Delegates assignments and supervises RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Communicates guidelines and training to staff, residents, families, and physicians.
- Supervises timely responses to call lights.
- Promotes a team environment through effective communication.
- Monitors schedule adherence of staff.
- Monitors job performance and provides corrective action as needed.
Unit Manager Requirements:
- Current LPN or RN license in State.
- Up-to-date first aid and CPR certification.
- At least one year of experience as an LPN or RN in a Long Term Care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of Matrixcare preferred.
