Our story
Originally founded by two emergency room psychiatrists, Dr. Chris Carson and Dr. Robert Williamson, Connections Health Solutions brings 30 years of experience serving individuals in crisis and operates two of the nation’s largest and most studied crisis response centers and is currently expanding to more states. Since opening our doors, we have provided care and treatment for hundreds of thousands of individuals in crisis.

What You'll Do:
Under the direction and supervision of the BHS Manager, the Supervisor, Behavioral Health Specialist oversees the work and supervision of assigned Behavioral Health Specialist staff. This position will have both leadership and direct care responsibilities and duties. Supervisor responsibilities (20-25%) include onboarding and training, scheduling, timesheet management and performance management of assigned staff. Direct care responsibilities (75-80%) include performing all regularly assigned Behavioral Health Specialist duties. The Supervisor, BHS actively collaborates with the Charge Nurse and other members of the shift to ensure the unit runs safely and efficiently.
- With support and guidance from BHS Manager and other clinical leadership, directs, supervises, and evaluates work of assigned Behavioral Health Specialist staff.
- Participates in interview and selection of Behavioral Health Specialists applicants.
- Responsible for onboarding and training of new hires under their supervision, including completion of the 90-day Competency Checklists.
- Maintains adequate staffing of assigned team to ensure an accurate schedule and proper staff to patient ratios. Partners with BHS Management and other BHS supervisors as needed to ensure staffing is adjusted accordingly to meet business needs.
- Accurately assesses staffing needs and increases staffing as necessary during high census times or cover PTO and decreases staffing as needed during low census times. Limits overtime as much as possible through use of Pool staff.
- Reviews and manages assigned staff timesheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state and company laws, policies, and guidelines.
- Responsible for oversight of BHS staff on assigned shift.
- Trains assigned Behavioral Health Specialists with a focus on maintaining a therapeutic milieu and utilization of de-escalation skills, seclusion/restraint, and safe clinch.
- Performs all essential functions of a Behavioral Health Specialist as needed and is responsible for ensuring all responsibilities of the BHS and Lead BHS are met.
- Works collaboratively with clinical team to engage, monitor, and communicate with the consumer ensuring safety is maintained while meeting consumer individual needs.
- Responsible for patient care outcomes on shift measured by the following Key Performance Indicators: Police Wait times, Door to Chair time, Patient and Employee Safety, and Seclusion & Restraint.
- Facilitates regular shift meetings to give updates, provide training and guidance, and address any concerns with staff. Identifies any performance issues of individual Behavioral Health Specialist staff. Collaborates with staff to be more actively engaging with consumers.
- Partners with the Lead BHS on assigned shifts to provide clinical supervision and to oversee the quality of care. Ensures that the BHS team is in compliance with Joint Commission Standards, training, and medical testing.
- Participates in committees to oversee the quality of care and participates in quality improvement activities and initiatives.
- Provides on-going training and education on safe clinch and seclusion/restraint techniques to employees in real time as needed. Provides regular guidance/training for employees on safe clinch and seclusion/restraint techniques. Performs and documents monthly seclusion/restraint drills and debriefs with involved staff on assigned shifts.
- Responsible for all supervisor duties for assigned staff including timecard approvals, PTO approvals, performance management, and disciplinary actions. Partners with BHS Management on complex and escalated employee issues.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
What You'll Bring:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
3 years of behavioral health or related experience
1 year of supervisory and/or Lead experience
Certified in Safe Clinch
- Must be a current holder of Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) certification, or have the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
- The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to obtain a State of Washington Food Handler's Card (BHS/RSS positions only)
It would be great if you had:
- Certified Trainer (Safe Clinch, CPR First Aid, Therapeutic Options, etc.), with 1 year of instructional teaching experience.
5 years of behavioral health experience.
Completion of BHT certification.
2 years of previous supervisory experience

The standard hiring range for this position in Kirkland, WA is $29.48 to $33.35 per hour. The exact compensation will be based on factors such as years of experience, competency, and skill level.
