Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Molecular Technologist to join our laboratory team in Plano, TX. The Molecular Technologist will be responsible for performing molecular diagnostic tests, analyzing DNA/RNA samples, and ensuring the accuracy of laboratory results. This position plays a key role in the detection of genetic diseases, infectious agents, and other molecular abnormalities, contributing to patient care and research.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform molecular-based testing such as PCR, sequencing, and hybridization assays.
· Analyze and interpret results in compliance with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards.
· Prepare and process biological samples, including DNA/RNA extraction, quantification, and amplification.
· Maintain and troubleshoot molecular laboratory equipment.
· Ensure strict adherence to quality control procedures, including documentation and reporting of results.
· Collaborate with pathologists, geneticists, and other laboratory staff to ensure accurate diagnosis and reporting.
· Participate in research and development of new assays and techniques.
· Monitor and manage laboratory inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
· Comply with CLIA, CAP, and other relevant regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
· Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by ASCP, or equivalent.
· Experience with molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, sequencing, and electrophoresis.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and data management.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Molecular Biology or related field.
· Experience in clinical molecular diagnostics or a clinical laboratory setting.
· Certification as a Molecular Biology Technologist (MB) by ASCP.
Work Environment:
· Clinical laboratory setting with advanced molecular diagnostic equipment.
· May require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on lab needs.
Salary and Shift:
· Competitive salary ranging from $27 - $30/hour.
· Day shift; M-F
