The UW Medical Center Bone & Joint Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Care Coordinator/Scheduler (Full-Time Days). The Patient Care Coordinator/Scheduler (PCC) is responsible for coordinating the delivery of medical care, as formulated by UWMC physicians or their designee, and the patient’s access to various health care services.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
University of Washington Medical Center, Northwest Hospital, and the Eastside, the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine provides comprehensive services in the areas of Arthritis, Foot and Ankle, Fractures and Trauma, Hand and Upper Extremity, Hip and Knee, Metabolic Bone Disease, Oncology, Pediatrics, Shoulder and Elbow, Spine, and Sports Medicine.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as primary liaison for UWMC/UW Medicine and represent departmental physicians with the hospital, patient and family, referring physicians, outside agencies, staff from outside hospitals and the general public by providing information and advice regarding UWMC hospital services.Triage medical information to Surgical Specialties Center, direct patients to appropriate services.Perform all functions of PCC, including reviewing and updating registration data, contacting insurance companies and review organizations.Provide clinic charges to current and prospective patients. Develop a cash collection system for patient deposits and management of self-pay patients.Demonstrate coordination functions of PCC. Work with RNs, PCCs, PCs, and PSSs to assure timely and appropriate referral entry, appointing, communication with referring providers and others.Facilitate patient admission and post-discharge follow-up, acting as a resource across the continuum. Assure complete records are available for appointments, including medical records management, fax records management, preparation of satellite medical record and records request.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
