Job Description
Days/Evenings/Nights
The ER Nurse Clinical Educator will work within their scope as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. They will work alongside other Emergency Department RN’s. In addition to their role at the bedside, the Emergency Nurse Clinical Educator will work in partnership with the ER Director to review staff competencies, evaluate staff throughput, work on process improvement projects, and coordinate ongoing trainings, onboarding, and evaluation of annual competencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Upholds and demonstrates St. Anthony Mission and Values in all areas of practice and leadership.
- Works collaboratively with the ER Director to identify areas for process development; evaluate staff competency.
- Develop and implement education programs for nurses based on identified needs and best practices.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance nursing knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to assess learning needs and develop individualized education plans.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to nurses in their professional development.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through assessments and feedback.
- Assist the ER Director with planning, coordination, and implementing orientation for new hires, assisting with the orientation process.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to nurses in their professional development after orientation.
- Serve as a resource person and/or preceptor for other staff.
- Facilitate skill training and competency assessment based on identified needs.
- Assist the ER Director to maintain department policies, personnel, and procedures that comply with local, state and other standards.
- Assist in establishing new programs, policies and operating procedures, and the refinement of existing programs and policies.
- Supervise and perform competency evaluations for staff.
- Oversee, develop, and help implement the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) for the assigned departments.
- Respond to emergency medical situations in an urgent manner and perform on-the-spot emergency assistance which may include first aid and/or CPR.
- Practice and behave in a professional, safe and ethical manner at all times.
- Serve as a patient advocate.
- Maintain friendly and courteous interpersonal communication skills and a positive service attitude.
- Participate in performance improvement and educational activities. Complete all CEU’s as required by respective licensure. If licensed, maintain an active and current license.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities; however, may assist physician with special unit procedures and provide training, education, and guidance to assigned staff, such as L.P.N.s, C.M.A.s and/or C.N.A.s.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the department Director, organization’s policies, and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- RN with state license required (BSN preferred); Current license to practice nursing in the state.
- Five or more years of experience as a professional nurse in an Emergency Department setting preferred.
Position Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
- ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certification within six months of employment.
- NRP within 12 months of employment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to work effectively and positively with a variety of patients, employees, departments, and the public.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must possess effective time management skills.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers, patients, families and employees of the organization.
