Scientist, Microbiology Analytical Research and Development (Onsite)
Job Description
Small Molecule Analytical Research and Development (SMARD) is seeking a highly motivated Scientist - Microbiologist to join the growing Microbiology Center of Excellence (COE). This position is responsible for supporting the full our company's Portfolio which includes small molecules, biologics, and vaccines. Responsibilities include supporting the rapidly growing pipeline via collaboration with stakeholders for various projects, routine testing, validations, and implementation of alternate micro methods. While working within a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment, the candidate is expected to have a strong working knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in discipline and will build their own team effectiveness skills. This position is based at the West Point, Pennsylvania site.
Minimum required education:
BS in Microbiology or related Biological Sciences and at least 1-2+ industry experience.
Required experience and skills:
- In-depth understanding of microbiology compendial testing
- Desire and willingness to learn and contribute to teams with cross-functional interactions
- Plan, execute, and evaluate GMP microbiological analyses (microorganism identification, endotoxin, and bioburden determinations and subsequent product testing)
- Supporting smaller laboratory projects including inventory management, documentation support, and equipment qualification / maintenance / calibration
- Document and manage analytical results according to applicable GMP requirements
- Strong aseptic skills / technique
- Ability to troubleshoot and think critically
- Strength in delivering results on firm deadlines
- Experience in supporting quality investigations and change management
- Experience with internal / external audit process
- Familiar with data integrity principals
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with microbial examination of non-sterile products and gowning procedures preferred
