Summary:
The Echocardiography Technologist is responsible for performing high quality cardiac ultrasound procedures and other noninvasive echocardiography testing to produce images of the heart. The Echo Tech assists the physician in providing specialized invasive echocardiography procedures including in the OR and Cath Lab. The Echo Tech requires specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a specified patient population.
Responsibilities:
- Performs non-invasive routine and emergent adult cardiac ultrasound examinations; obtains history, explains procedure to patient, and uses good judgement in determining if additional images are necessary for proper diagnosis. Provides 2D and 3D echo studies; performs specialized non-invasive echo studies including stress echo, and contrast echo.
- Performs non-invasive routine and emergent infant and pediatric cardiac ultrasound examinations. Obtains history, explains procedure to patient, and uses good judgement in determining if additional images are necessary for proper diagnosis, and provides 2D echo studies.
- Assists the physician in providing diagnostic and therapeutic testing/procedures in specialized and invasive cardiac procedures including TEE, TAVR, ASD closures, CABG's, and ablations.
- Ensures proper maintenance and care of the equipment and supplies, including appropriate procedure, technique and documentation in the disinfection of machines, and probes for patient safety.
- Maintains accurate patient documentation, including the echo data management system, assists in providing timely echo reports, and accurately enters all charges for billing purposes.
- Maintains and develops professional skills and knowledge, and promoting continuous improvement of workplace practices.

* REGISTERED CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER (RCS)
