Lead Nurse - Early Intervention in Psychosis
Mental Health Professionals: North Derbyshire Early Intervention Service.

Position: Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner post.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Nurse to join the NCAP Top Performing North Derbyshire Early Intervention Service, supporting the team with their work with people experiencing a first episode of psychosis.
We are looking for a committed, dynamic, enthusiastic mental health nurse to work within our friendly, supportive, multi-disciplinary and innovative team. The post holder will work closely with people referred to the service and their family members to promote optimism and potential around vocation and independence.
The post holder will act as a care-coordinator for a designated number of people experiencing psychosis for the first time in line with national early intervention standards.
Previous experience in an Early Intervention Service would be beneficial but not essential. A full induction and orientation to the service will be provided to the successful candidate.
Main Duties of the Job
- Develop knowledge and experience in the area of first episode of psychosis and work collaboratively with service users and families.
- Care co-ordination for service users aged 14-65 experiencing a first episode of psychosis.
- Promote social inclusion and enhance the independence and autonomy of the service user.
- Be responsible and accountable for your own practice.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Participate in appropriate training for the role.
- Take part in the yearly NCAP audit.
- Travel efficiently across a wide area to meet the needs of the service.
- Support with the duty function and complete initial assessments of new referrals.
- Demonstrate RMN post-registration experience and expertise in care planning and risk assessment.
- Act as a role model, offering mentoring and supervision to colleagues and students.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Registered Mental Health Nurse.
Experience
- Experience working within mental health.
- Ability to build good therapeutic relationships based on trust and respect.
- Ability to work with other professional agencies.
- Willingness to engage in appropriate training for the role.
- Evidence of assessment skills and managing risk.
Skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Experience of mentoring/supervising others.
Knowledge
- Awareness of and interest in Early Intervention in Psychosis Services.
