Position Title: Clinical Placement and Program Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program (BNATP) Clinical Placement and Program Coordinator is an exciting opportunity for passionate nurses looking to make a real impact in healthcare education! As the primary liaison between Dominican University’s BNATP and local healthcare agencies, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the clinical experiences of future nursing professionals. This position allows you to manage and evaluate student performance at clinical sites, develop new clinical affiliation agreements, and work closely with students to support their growth and success in meeting their clinical curriculum requirements.
In addition to collaborating with workforce development staff to ensure seamless course operations, you’ll also have the chance to explore and implement health-related certificate programs. Working alongside the Executive Director of Academic Affairs, Chicago Campus, this position provides you with the opportunity to expand clinical partnerships, develop new programs, and influence the direction of healthcare education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Site Coordination:
- Works directly with the Executive Director of Academics on course scheduling, onboarding of adjunct faculty, and participation in the Chicago Campus faculty community of practice.
- Supports the Executive Director of Academics in strategic assessment of multi-site BNAT instruction and program launch.
- Supports the Executive Director in overseeing BNAT Workforce Management to ensure accurate planning and forecasting.
- Initiates and maintains clinical contracts through relationship-building, facilitating agency orientations and troubleshooting clinical placement conflicts.
- Arranges clinical experiences that meet the educational requirements for students in the BNAT certificate.
- Obtains signatures for renewing and/or terminating contracts between DU and clinical sites based on alignment with clinical objectives.
- Arranges clinical placements for BNAT students in a variety of settings (e.g., hospitals, community health settings, long-term care facilities, and assisted living facilities) throughout Chicago and surrounding areas.
- Acts as a liaison between the Director of Nursing and Chicago’s BNAT program, working with the Executive Director of Academic Affairs, Chicago Campus, to match the needs of students and clinical instructors to agencies with appropriate learning experiences.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Provides oversight of the BNAT Chicago Campus simulation center.
- Communicates and follows up with adjunct clinical instructors about clinical assignments semester to semester.
- Supports the exploration and implementation of other health-related certificates.
- Performs other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned related to the implementation and delivery of programming, such as hiring adjunct instructors and supervising their roles and responsibilities, as well as potential teaching as needed for the BNATP.
- Maintains skills sheet and turns it in at the required deadline.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Supervises and evaluates students in clinical settings, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Provides feedback to the students as they are performing skills that are based on the course curriculum as outlined.
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications are required unless otherwise stated:
- Registered Nurse License in Illinois.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Two years of nursing experience and one year of experience as a nurse in one or both of the following areas:
- Teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program.
- Providing nursing care, including personal care and activities to older or chronically ill adults at an LTC facility.
- Simulation experience.
- Experience teaching in an ADN program or higher.
- Approved training for instruction in Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia equivalent to 4 CEUs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with individuals at various levels throughout the university and healthcare agencies.
- Positive attitude and the ability to adapt to a paced dynamic environment.
- Well organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, self-starter.
- An ability to work in a team environment.
- Comfortable with the use of technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience as a Clinical Placement Coordinator in or in association with an accredited nursing program.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary and FLSA Status:
- Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 annually.
- FLSA Status: Exempt, 37.5 hours.
