We have an excellent career opportunity for a Medical Technologist to join our Clinical Pathology Department team in Madison, WI.
Schedule: This is a full-time 1st shift position. Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm (start time can be flexible) with 1 in every 8 weekends on call.
Position Summary:
The Medical Technologist will receive specimens, perform testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Immunoassays, report and maintain records of results; conduct oversight of the quality control, and ensure that any deviations are followed up on and documented. This role is working in a fast-paced early development environment where attention to detail is key.
The essential job duties are:
- Prepare workstation and instrumentation for the assigned testing.
- Prepare and properly label reagents and document according to SOPs.
- Process and ship samples according to study-specific instructions.
- Complete testing within the expected turnaround time to meet customers’ expectations.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment. Handle hazardous materials, reagents, and chemicals in a safe manner according to SOP.
- Actively participate in new assay validations according to SOPs.
- Perform weekly QC/PM review.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician required.
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of at least a 12-month training program in Medical Technology or a bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited college or university and one year of training and/or experience in the specialty in which testing is to be performed. Such training must be equivalent to that received in a school of Medical Technology.
