Supervise delivery of resident care provided by licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel while maintaining, or exceeding, HRA standards. Provides direct supervision of resident care staff including includes monitoring job performance, conducting associate performance evaluations, coaching and counseling associates and providing training and education.
Essential Functions:
- Meet with each resident on a regular basis to provide health and wellness checks and answer any health-related questions
- Review all resident information and complete an assessment of the resident prior to move-in, when changes in the resident’s condition occur, and as required by residence policy and state regulation
- Review the resident’s medical report prior to move-in to ensure that the residence can provide for the resident’s individual needs and regulatory requirements have been fulfilled
- Order medications and oversee the resident’s medication schedule for residents receiving medication administration services
- Ensure proper documentation for medication assistance / administration
- Assist the Dir. of Resident Care (DRC) or Dir. of Assisted Living (DAL) to develop and maintain an up-to-date individual service plan for each resident ensuring it’s implementation
- Maintain ongoing communications with the resident, resident’s family, and physician regarding the resident’s medical needs
- Coordinate additional health services the resident may need
- Assist in coordinating resident transfer to and from a hospital or another facility
- Assist with counseling residents and families
- Be on call for medical questions and resident emergencies as scheduled
- Assist in coordinating residents’ dietary needs with the Director of Food & Beverage
- Review changes in residents’ conditions with the DRC or DAL, Executive Director, and residents’ physician
- Oversee and assist with training regarding residents’ health and wellness
- Ensure that all infection control guidelines are met
- Maintain residents’ wellness files
- Facilitate OSHA training and assist employees with OSHA compliance
- Coordinate state-required training with ED to ensure regulatory compliance
- The ability to work in a safe and alert manner
- The ability to take ownership for associate’s safety and the safety of the residents
- Must disclose any medication that might impair associate’s ability to perform the job safely or competently.

- Becomes familiar and understands the steps for fire evacuation
- All associates are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all community residents
Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:
- Graduated from an accredited program for Registered Nurses and is currently registered in the state of this community.
- Must obtain valid Continuing Education credits as required by the state of this community.
- Training in the special needs of the cognitively impaired resident, i.e. Alzheimer and Dementia training with focus on Validation Therapy
- Basic CPR/first aid training
- One additional year of experience with a long term facility in a licensed staff position
- One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Organizational or management experience supervising others preferred
- Ability to respond during off-duty hours to questions and emergencies
- Experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook software. Basic typing skills required
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, residents, family members, and outside contacts
- Knowledge of current Federal and State regulations pertaining to assisted living and/or memory care communities as well as regulations on Resident’s Rights
- Able to make independent decisions
- Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
