Job Summary
The Bariatric Clinic Navigator is responsible for the administration and coordination of the Bariatric Clinic Program participants. Provides support, education, coordination of care and other assistance as needed through the program process for the patient.
Responsibilities And Scope
- Responsible for supervising and coordinating the flow of patient care and patient experience within the center. Serves as liaison for Bariatric patients with all providers involved in the patients care to help obtain/expedite recommendations from physicians and other health team members for timely and appropriate patient care.
- Works with the community, medical staff, clinical staff, and administration to ensure success of the bariatric program. Focuses on quality of care, promotion of services, and coordination of care.
- Provides education, support and necessary resources for newly diagnosed patients and their families. Coordinates appropriate referrals for those needed services. Coaches the patient and family’s understanding through the Bariatric experience by maintaining close contact with patient throughout the initial treatment phase of the program. Collaborates with inpatient Bariatric Coordinator on care within surgery, hospitalization, and recovery. Responsible for management of post-treatment care within the clinic and patient outcome achievement.
- Coordinates pre-authorization/pre-certification paperwork to assure that patients are able to receive treatment that is reimbursable by any third-party payors. Ensures necessary documentation is completed and all program requirements and insurance requirements are met by the patient. Receives and quickly responds to patient and referring provider inquiries, assuring that all interested parties have appropriate information about the program.
- Conducts educational classes/talks in collaboration with outreach programs, including visiting and coordinating Bariatric surgeon visits to referring physician offices. Organizes and conducts Bariatric group meetings and informational sessions for patients, as needed. Updates program collateral/printed materials and ensures all materials are distributed appropriately.
Qualifications
Required
- Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states.
- Three (3) years of experience working in a healthcare clinic or hospital setting.
- Prior experience working with insurance payments or claims.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Five (5) years of experience working in healthcare clinic or hospital setting.
- Experience or training in CPT and ICD-9/-10 coding.
