Responsibilities & Qualifications
Novelis in Atlanta has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2025 internship! The team is seeking a Simulation Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work that contribute to the development of our internal project components aimed to streamline simulation development lifecycle. The intern will collaborate with the Novelis Digital Center of Excellence Data Science team and gain experience with basic concepts of simulation, databases, object-oriented programming, and data-handling are relevant skills for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Understanding of basic concepts of Discrete Event Simulation, Monte Carlo and Agent-based Simulation.
- Current enrollment in a software engineering, industrial engineering, operations research, mathematics, or related technical degree program.
- Understanding of software and model engineering concepts such as versioning, user-oriented design, test-driven development, and agile development.
- Hands-on experience with Java programming.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Desire for continuous development and learning opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree and currently enrolled in a graduate program in Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Familiarity with simulation model development packages, e.g., AnyLogic (preferred), Area, Arena, FlexSim, Simio, Gama, Simul8, Simulink.
- Experience in metals manufacturing, particularly in the areas of process, quality reliability, and supply chain.
- Proficient in Java.
