ANIMAL RESEARCH TECHNICIAN (Richland, MI)
Candidate will work with equine animals.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; a college degree in Animal Science is preferred but not required. Also, at least two years of experience in Biological Research within a laboratory animal facility with companion animals is necessary.
Candidate should have the following qualifications:
- Experience working in ABSL1-2 facilities.
- Ability to collect raw data and make clinical observations.
- Experience administering body weights, animal restraint, and record keeping.
- Familiarity with dosing and processing data utilizing “Good Laboratory Practices.”
- Experience with biological processing (blood and other fluids).
- Interface with different departments on a daily basis.
- Histology experience and blood collection skills.
- Previous research experience is a plus.
- Experience with mechanical machinery and operations.
- Able to perform physical labor involving the breaking down and setting up of heavy caging.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs to 60 lbs, climb, stoop, bend, reach, and stand for prolonged periods.
Candidate must be responsible and reliable, able to work independently when necessary, and maintain good customer relations.
Demonstrated math and reading comprehension, as well as good oral and written communication skills, are required. Good organizational skills are essential, and the candidate should be a self-starter (motivated) and an independent worker.
Demonstrated computer skills are preferred.
This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday, with some weekend and holiday hours possibly required.
