Position Summary:
The St. Charles Health System Acute Care and Trauma Physician will provide surgical treatment and follow-up care for patients with severe traumatic injuries, critical illnesses, or emergency conditions. This role requires collaboration with various specialties and active participation in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
Work Schedule:
- 156 clinical shifts annually, including day and night shifts in hospital and clinic settings.
- Primary night call distribution averages 2-4 shifts per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform emergency surgical procedures and interventions.
- Diagnose and manage critically injured patients in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain comprehensive patient records and participate in performance improvement activities.
- Support departmental goals and uphold high professional standards of care.
Education & Certification:
- MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and ATLS are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, particularly Epic.
