Summary:
Performs a variety of ultrasound exams using independent judgment and knowledge of ultrasonography principles. Assists Radiologist with diagnostic interpretations by providing high quality images and communicating technical impressions. Exceeds the highest standard of care and respect for all customers in the Radiology department.
Responsibilities:
To provide patients and their family ranging from neonatal to geriatrics with the highest quality of care and respect through communication. Projects a positive image of the Radiology department and the hospital. Ensures good communication skills with healthcare team members and physicians remaining helpful, courteous and professional at all times.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, or a graduate from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
- Clinical rotation through a hospital setting during training or one-year experience as an Ultrasound technologist.
ENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligible or Registered (or registry eligible) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to make independent decisions. Demonstrate leadership ability. Good interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated in direct patient care. Encourages proper training and supervision of student technologist rotating through the Ultrasound department.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Due to indirect or direct contact, you may be at risk for exposure to tuberculosis, bloodborne pathogens (which may include HIV and Hepatitis B) and/or other potentially infectious diseases. May have stressful work shifts during periods of high patient volume. Responsible for call duty after regular hours on a rotating basis. Personal Protective Equipment is required for patient exposure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
- Walking and standing throughout shift. Pushes and pulls stretchers and wheelchairs occupied with patients throughout the shift. Lift patients daily with assistance. After regular hours callbacks required on emergency basis during call duty.
