Job Title: Boarding/Animal Care Specialist
Department: Boarding
Reports to: Boarding Supervisor
Job Purpose: You are an integral piece of the Boarding Team that is responsible for all aspects of care for the pets in the Boarding Department. Your attention to detail and adaptability help create a positive experience for pets, owners, and our staff.
What you will be doing:
- Decision Making: Facilitate playtimes based upon exhibited behaviors.
- Recordkeeping: Document playtimes, urination, bowel movements, behaviors, and food consumption.
- Organization: Manage and complete individual services, such as play times and potty breaks based on priority; distribute food/meds following instructions that vary for each animal.
- Maintenance: Maintain building and animal enclosure cleanliness using a variety of disinfectants.
- Support: Ensure safe handling of animals.
- Culture: Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling NB Behaviors and Values, consistent with the Vision and Mission of the organization. Maintain a safe work environment by following NB protocols and policies. Work with NB team members in a positive and effective way to advance the mission of NB.
- Other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- Physical & Emotional Capabilities: Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of working in an animal boarding environment, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Schedule: Regular, predictable attendance and punctuality; availability to work during operations hours as defined by management with the flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work as a member of the team and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.
- Computer Skills: Must be able to use boarding software on tablets and laptops.
