Lead Mammography Technologist
Near Kalamazoo
Our client is a 75+ acute care hospital with an additional 17-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. They are an independently owned not-for-profit hospital, providing facilities, equipment, and technology that are usually only found at larger health systems.
They have an immediate need for a LMT to lead imaging operations in their brand new Women's Center. Job Summary: Mentors and trains other mammography technologists and coordinates schedule with other departments to ensure the day-to-day activities for Women’s center. Works in conjunction with the Manager of Radiology, Diagnostic Services, Radiologists, and other personnel to supervise and perform technical procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
- Writes and maintains diagnostic procedures and ensures staff compliance with procedures.
- Manages general oversight of students.
- Provides input for all mammography technologist evaluations and competencies.
- Performs mammograms, bone densities, and biopsies according to department procedures as well as assists with tasks such as dressing and changing seriously ill, injured, or disabled patients.
- Reviews and evaluates digital images or computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
- Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scans.
- Monitors patients' conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to physicians.
- Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations while ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
- Records, processes, and maintains patient data and treatment records and prepares reports.
- Coordinates work with clerical personnel and other technologists.
- Demonstrates new equipment, procedures, and techniques to staff and provides technical assistance.
- Performs scheduled quality assurance studies, minor emergency repairs on equipment, and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- An associate degree in X-ray Technology or related field with 5 years’ experience in a hospital radiology department.
- Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification.
