Have a current license as a Radiological Technology from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
Utilize magnetic resonance imaging scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis
MRI techs must be able to closely follow a physician’s instructions on referral forms
Prepare and operate MRI equipment which includes selecting software options and imaging parameters
Explain MRI procedures to patients
Position patients correctly and effectively record the requested diagnostic images
Techs need to have the ability to stay on their feet throughout the workday while prepping patients and to manipulate the table straps. Techs need to assist patients on and off the MRI table
Monitor the patient’s condition before and after the scan to ensure patient safety and comfort
Techs need to be able to lift MRI coils that could range between 10-40 lbs
Techs need to possess written and verbal communication, sensitivity to physical and psychological needs of patients, attention to detail
Responsible for enforcing magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operators, and visitors
Maintain patient log, equipment service manual, delivery schedule, and all related statistics
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines

Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School or GED. Graduate of an approved school of radiologic technology.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1 year of MRI experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Should be ARRT certified and licensed by TDH; MRI registry preferred; current CPR required.
