Job Description
We are looking for someone to join our clinical team. You will have multiple roles including greeting and scheduling patients and visitors, calling patients, giving vaccines to patients, answering phone calls, assisting physicians, data entry, and using and learning medical software.
Under general supervision in an outpatient clinical setting, the medical assistant will perform a variety of routine administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services to assist medical staff in the examination and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include clinical duties such as taking vital signs, giving injections, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms and supplies. Works under the clinical supervision of a licensed physician or as delegated by the physician for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor. May also be responsible for some administrative duties like answering phone calls, scanning documents, faxing, data entry, and documentation of the workflow.
The medical assistant will have to learn and use medical software (EMR).
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of all requirements in a recognized Medical Assistant training program.
Experience: None required. People with pediatrics experience will be given preference.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Good typing speed
- Knowledge of using browsers and other typical computer software
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of usual pediatrics office equipment such as BP machine, infant and standing scales, thermometers, FAX machine, audiometer, nebulizer machine
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and handle a high volume of interactions (phones, patients, etc.)
- Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols, within the Medical Assistant scope of work.
- Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to deal with diverse patient/family interactions.
- Ability to recognize and communicate problems promptly.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the safe and effective performance of the job.
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
- Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families, and staff, including high volume and stressful situations
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines
