STAFF NURSE (TEMP) Central Staffing Resources Specialty Cluster (Discharge Hospitality Center)
This job opening is for a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR) and services the Discharge Hospitality Center (DHC) for adult patients.
The DHC is a designated area for patients who are discharged or are finalizing discharge needs while awaiting transportation, pharmacy, or other medical supplies. This space provides a comfortable environment for patients to wait and complete their care with us at Michigan Medicine.
Job Summary
This job opening is for a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR) Specialty Cluster, Discharge Hospitality Center.
Evening Shift Differential is $5.00 per hour for 3p-7p and $4.00 per hour for 7p-11p.
Night Shift Differential is $3.00 per hour.
Weekend Differential is $5.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Clinical Expediter to determine appropriateness of the patient for use of DHC.
- Coordinate with unit Charge RN to help facilitate the patient coming to the DHC.
- Upon arrival, check the patient into the DHC and help get them oriented to the space.
- Complete any remaining care needed prior to discharge, such as completing IVPB infusions or discontinuing PIVs.
- Review and complete any necessary discharge paperwork with the patient.
- Complete all documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including care provided in the DHC and education for discharge.
- Coordinate with pharmacy for discharge medications or with security to obtain remaining patient belongings.
Required Qualifications
- Current Michigan licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Two (2) or more years recent RN experience
- Current AHA ACLS provider certification
Desired Qualifications
- BSN preferred
- Experience as a float RN, floating to multiple units
- Demonstrated flexibility and effective communication skills
- Knowledge of the University of Michigan Hospital nursing policies and practices
Work Schedule
Commitment is 24 hours per 4-week scheduling period. Evening and Night shifts are available; 4, 8, and 12 HR BLOCKS AVAILABLE!
