About the Department
The Chicago Center for HIV Elimination (CCHE) is situated within the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago Medicine. CCHE aims to eliminate all new HIV transmission events by 2041. The University of Chicago's position on the South Side makes it uniquely situated to test, treat, and prevent new HIV infections in a highly affected population.
Job Summary
The Research Study Technician will assist the PI with day-to-day operations of funded projects that involve working with LGB (lesbian, gay and bisexual) and TGNC (transgender and gender non-conforming) individuals living on the South and West sides of Chicago. This position will work directly with the study team with some oversight from the PI and Administrative manager.
Responsibilities
- Supports research dissemination by developing social media posts on published journal articles.
- Supports scheduling needs for the project and Center.
- Supports grant proposals for both service and research projects.
- Maintains an efficient, well-organized research study and supports junior research staff by managing supplies, maintaining quality control programs, and assisting with development of policies and procedures related to the research project.
- Coordinates team meetings.
- Supports survey design.
- Drafts IRBs and manuscripts, submits conference abstracts.
- Supports data analysis.
- Supports study recruitment, screening for eligibility and consenting study participants.
- Delivers assessments and study interventions.
- Supports data entry.
- Assists with the development of study implementation protocols.
- Offers referrals to service programming when appropriate.
- Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
- Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.
Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience:
- Research and administrative experience.
- 1-2 years of experience working with BSGM individuals.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Preferred Competencies
- Take direction and prioritize multiple, competing administrative tasks.
- Strong note-taking skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient electronic communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Travel to various community venues across the Chicago metropolitan area.
