Description
The Director of Dialysis directs, plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates the activities of the dialysis unit for patients and staff under the general supervision of the Vice President of Patient Services and the Dialysis Medical Director. The Director of Dialysis completes these responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, views, values, goals, and objectives of Huron Regional Medical Center.
Essential Job Functions:
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Patient Services, the director of dialysis maintains accountability for the coordination and delivery of care to patients with acute kidney injury and end stage renal disease. The responsibilities of the director of dialysis include:
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining all dialysis policies and procedures.
- Maintains competencies and skills check list for dialysis staff.
- Coordinate patient care and services (trend lab values, track metrics on vital signs, weight, outcome management, etc.)
- Ensure you and your clinical team are delivering the highest level of care to patients by ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
- Participates in the recruitment and hiring process of new employees while completing employee performance reviews and education.
- Assures completion of new hire and termination of employee paperwork.
- Participates in all appropriate administrative meetings.
- Promotes and maintains smooth working relationship between his/her unit and other units.
- Ensures and participates in in-service educational programs.
- Effectively accomplishes work through others by appropriate delegation.
- Assures team member’s documentation and assessments are accurate and complete.
- Participates as requested by Network committees in quality improvement activities (i.e., audits, data submission and survey completion).
- Responsible for coordination and submission of statistics according to Network and CMS requirements.
- Evaluates staffing needs and makes recommendations?accordingly based on metrics and targets.
- Monitors medication and supply inventory reports and recommends adjustments of inventory levels in unit based on usage and anticipated treatment and patient?increase/decreases.
- Participates in preparation of annual budget; specifically, activity and staffing levels, supplies, and capital equipment needs.?
Other Job Duties:
- Evaluates the performance of dialysis staff and provides orientation to new dialysis staff members.
- Maintains appropriate supply level of specialized dialysis products and staffing levels to ensure high-quality care is delivered.
- Maintains skills level to assist on dialysis floor as needed.
- Demonstrates high level of personal and professional accountability and responsibility
Requirements
Qualifications: (Minimum Education and Experience)
- Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of South Dakota
- Have at least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing, and an additional 6 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis.
- Current BLS Certification
- Demonstrates basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Suite and Outlook
