ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: The Pediatric Infectious Disease Division is responsible for managing inpatient and outpatient care for Pediatric Infectious Disease. The division also provides services under several grants, engaged in prevention, and support of youth and adolescents that are, or could be, impacted by HIV/AIDS.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and maintain clinical care of patients by reviewing and preparing charts for clinics. Triaging patient phone calls to determine priority of service, refilling medications as required, obtaining authorizations for medications/tests as required.
- Collect, update and maintain patient's labs data, and patient information in client database.
- Attend and perform all clinical nursing functions at required clinics, assisting physician/ARNP with special exams, and medication administration as needed.
- Assume the role of Discharge Planner/Organizer and clinic coordinator during daily clinics. Perform other professional nursing and related administrative duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with all members of the health care team in the process of addressing changes in clients' needs and providing tools/resources along with other team members participation to assure for a comprehensive individualized, cost effective plan.
- Establish working relationships with referral sources. Arrange and coordinate services with outside agencies for supplies and equipment.
- Work in conjunction with Developmental Services, Child Protection Teams, child advocacy groups, support groups, and DCF.
- Consult with school nurses, faculty counselors, and social workers assisting in the development of the Individual Education Plan.
- Manage and maintain documentation records required for mandatory reports for sponsoring agencies and grant funding sources.
- Collaborate with Departmental Coordinator to complete required reporting documentation.
- Maintain working knowledge of computer programs required to perform office activities, including but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and electronic medical record systems.
- Engage in professional development activities by attending professional learning opportunities, meetings and supporting governmental and community agencies.
- Adhere to DOH Information Security Policies, Protocols and Procedures to ensure the physical security and protection of confidential information are maintained.
- Demonstrate an understanding of legal and ethical issues pertaining to confidentiality of client information and restrictions on the release of confidential information.
- Ensure appropriate communication with other staff members, complete other duties as assigned or necessary.
- Answer office phones, copy materials, enter lab data, track patient information, requests and pick up of medical records, purchase patient supplies. Perform general office duties as needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
- This position requires licensure as a registered nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Chapter 64 B9, Florida Administrative Code.
PREFERRED:
- Previous Pediatric experience.
