We at Fairview Health Services are looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location on the University of Minnesota Campus West Bank.
Unit 3A admission to the unit are those persons 18 years and older who require 24-hour detoxification, medical stabilization and psychiatric stabilization provided by the inpatient setting. This is a fast-paced unit, having several admissions and discharges daily each shift. Once the patient is out of detoxification, they are referred to outpatient step down facilities to continue to work on their therapeutic needs. Unit 3A has several members on its team that have enjoyed working this unit for more than 30 years; they have a vast amount of knowledge in this outstanding setting and enjoy sharing their passion with new staff members!
This role is approved for 40 hours, every two weeks on the evening shift, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible. Responsibilities Job Description
The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.
Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:
- Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
- Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.
- Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
- Actively participates in milieu management with treatment teamwork.
Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:
- Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.
- Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.
- Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:
- Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
- Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Basic Life Support Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field
- Experience working in the mental health field
