Preferred Schedule: Weekend call coverage. Friday 7a to Monday 7a
Worksite Setting: Hospital
Scope of Work:
- Provide orthopedic coverage for Level II trauma center, including ED consultations, reductions, splinting/casting, and any indicated operative procedures.
- Provide orthopedic coverage for inpatients with acute musculoskeletal conditions.
- The definitive surgical treatment of pelvic and/or acetabulum fractures is not expected but provisional stabilization with skeletal traction, external fixation, and/or application of pelvic binders is in scope.
- There are no outpatient clinic responsibilities.
- Provide guidance and oversight of orthopedic trauma APPs who assist with the Orthopedic Trauma Service and who serve as “first call” for the service.
Licenses, Certifications, Requirements:
Active NC license, DEA, BC, ortho trauma fellowship preferred but not required. Must be comfortable with the evaluation and provisional and/or definitive treatment for acute traumatic injuries commonly seen at Level II trauma centers. Must have experience with the evaluation and treatment of the most common, bread-and-butter musculoskeletal conditions resulting in inpatient consultation.
