Job Description
Performs nutritional activities of the department. Coordinates educational needs for program development and creation of training materials. Performs patient assessments and counseling, as needed. Responsible for patient assessments for premature infants and neonates. Responsible for providing patient care to infants in the NICU and in the outpatient setting of NICU graduates. Promotes care using evidence-based practice to optimize patient care.
The Registered Dietician selected for this role is responsible for inpatient NICU work at Cohen Children's Medical Center and outpatient work in a NICU Clinic which is located in Manhasset. Must have NICU experience.
Inpatient Location: Cohen Children's Medical Center 269-01 76th Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11040
Outpatient Clinic: 225 Community Drive, Manhasset, NY 11021
Shift Expectation: Monday - Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops program policies and guidelines and develops patient educational materials.
- Evaluates program outcomes and developing annual program goals.
- Identifies high risk nutritional status; follows up on findings; interprets records statistics for population.
- Provides nutritional counseling to women with diabetes pre-conception, antepartum and postpartum.
- Assesses nutritional and educational needs of patients being sensitive to cultural differences, preferences and educational barriers.
- Documents nutrition information discussed, written materials provided and evaluation of patients' receptiveness and comprehension of the education provided.

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Current Registered Dietician Certification with the Commissions on Dietetic Registration in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
- NICU experience and experience working with premature infants preferred.
