Overview
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Radiologist, performs imaging procedures producing two-dimensional high frequency sound waves to create diagnostic images of the human body for use in the diagnosis of medical conditions, at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed Ultrasonography for radiological diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Operates Ultrasound Equipment to make quality images of designated body parts. Responsibilities include knowledge of all Ultrasound procedures, proper patient positioning, exposures, utilization of PACS, implementation of patient charges, and assists physicians as required. Will be available for emergency on-call procedures as required. Recognizes the need for control/assessment of pain for patients and helps to prevent or reduce patient pain levels when possible. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Performs leadership responsibilities in QC, scheduling, as well as peer training when needed.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Use common sense and special medical skills to care for the sick or handicapped. Understand technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals, and labels. Use eyes, hands, and fingers with skill. Work fast in an emergency situation. Effectively communicate with people when they are sick, handicapped, or nervous. Follow instructions exactly. Record information accurately. Ability to care for patients of all ages. CPR certification required.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Ultrasound Lead Technologist is a high school graduate or equivalent, some college preferred. Must be a graduate of an approved Ultrasound school or have appropriate training. Must have Registry or be Registry eligible within Ultrasound. Must be able to show experience and possess capabilities of leadership to be adequate by the Director as well as the Medical Director of Imaging.
