Ideal social work candidates should have a well-rounded set of basic social work skills. They should be interested in developing their clinical skills while collaborating with their team in a multi-disciplinary setting. Ideal candidates should possess strong leadership skills, flexibility, organization, and empathy. They should be knowledgeable of various evidence-based practice approaches, including Floortime/DIR, CBT, Intentional Relationship Model, and Family Systems Theory. Candidates should also be comfortable facilitating individual, group, and family therapy. Lastly, a successful social worker at Blue Bird Day should be eager to continuously learn and develop new skills, appreciate working together as a team, and be ready to wear many different hats to best serve our families and clients. Set hours between 8am and 5pm, Monday- Friday.
Responsibilities
- Oversees overall case management duties of the clients assigned to their caseload.
- Leads therapeutic activities in accordance with the weekly lesson plan and Blue Bird Day manual guidelines. Helps orient staff members to the daily class schedule.
- Provides individual therapy sessions including ongoing sessions, coverage sessions, and daily case management tasks as needed.
- Provides guidance and support to classroom TAs through transitions and throughout therapy rotations.
- Participates in ongoing collaboration with the client's team and family including weekly emails, phone calls, and in-person discussions. Serves as the main liaison and point of contact for client caregivers.
- Creates visual schedules, social stories, and home programs to help support therapy goals.
- Participates in playdates, evaluations, progress reports, and transition meetings for new and existing Blue Bird Day clients.
- Meets productivity expectations and completes daily documentation requirements in a timely manner.
- Implements Blue Bird Day curriculum and theories of practice models supporting Blue Bird Day's therapeutic model.
- Works with BCBAs to assist in implementing behavior plans, as needed.
Requirements
- Master's Degree
- Master's of Social Work (MSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), OR Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
- Experience working with children or clients with special needs is a plus

Blue Bird Day is an intensive therapy program for children with autism, ADHD, and other developmental disorders. Our therapies are offered in a preschool-like setting, but instead of teachers, our "classes" are run by therapists. Our collaborative team provides occupational, physical, speech, developmental, ABA, and other therapies to help our clients reach their unique goals. We have locations in Chicago's West Loop and Northcenter neighborhoods and in Wheaton, and we're growing!
