At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy our focus is patient-centered care. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services, heart and vascular care, emergency services, surgery, maternity, cancer care, and diagnostic imaging.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
- Greets patient utilizing AIDET, verifies patient identification, reviews chart for proper radiation treatment parameters and physician prescriptions.
- Informs patients and families about the treatment process and answers questions.
- Prepares patients for treatment. Positions equipment according to plan.
- Takes portal films or IGRT scans to ensure treatment protocols are accurately set up and followed.
- Verifies proper dosage of ionizing radiation for patient as prescribed by physician.
- Monitors patient throughout treatment process by checking video monitors and intercom.
- Informs physician anytime patient experiences distress or side effects related to treatment process.
- Records each patient’s treatment in EMR and proper notes for accurate treatment and set-up.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate journals, books, and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences, and education opportunities.
Qualifications
Education
- Satisfactory completion of a JRCERT accredited Radiation Therapy Program.
Licenses & Certifications
- ARRT (T) boards completion within 6 months of hire.
- BLS from the American Heart Association required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of linear accelerators and record and verify systems.
- Ability to operate radiation therapy equipment.
- Ability to manage patients.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
