JOB SUMMARY:
The Hospital Supervisor (Nursing) is accountable for the hospital wide administrative, operational, human resource, and patient safety management on off-shifts and holidays. This supervisor works closely with hospital leadership and serves as the onsite administrative resource on assigned shifts. The Hospital Supervisor provides oversight to ensure that care delivery, quality management, and staff utilization patterns are congruent with HCHD policies, guidelines, and standards. The Hospital Supervisor has the authority to make all operational and human resource decisions relevant to his or her assigned shift as long as the decisions are consistent with district and departmental policies, standards, and other approved guidelines. The Hospital Supervisor maintains open communication with Pavilion leadership and other disciplines concerning operations and actual or potential problems; engaging Executive Administrative and departmental leadership as needed, to assure appropriate communication regarding Pavilion operations.
The Hospital Supervisor is responsible for facilitating an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care. As a member of the hospital's leadership team, this supervisor establishes a setting that supports professional practice and empowers staff to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and efficient care in collaboration with all health care disciplines. The Hospital Supervisor ensures compliance with standards established by professional organizations; national, state, and local regulatory agencies; and institutional policies and procedures. The Hospital Supervisor is accountable for operations that uphold high standards of integrity and ethical behavior. The Hospital Supervisor mentors others and role models professionalism.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licensure/Specialized Training:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required. Master's degree in Nursing or related field is preferred. Holds at least one (1) of the following in Nursing: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree.
Licensure/Certification:
- Applicable professional certification in administration or relevant clinical specialty certification is to be completed within two (2) years, if not held at the time of appointment.
- Current RN license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas.
- Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
Work Experience: Five (5) years clinical experience plus three (3) management/leadership experience.
Management Experience: Three (3) years management/leadership experience is required.
