Job Summary
As our lab manager, you will oversee lab operations, supervise lab employees, perform laboratory maintenance and safety training, and act as the safety and chemical hygiene officer. Your duties will include purchasing supplies, inspecting, maintaining, training users on lab equipment, and creating SOPs. This role requires collaborating with outside vendors, keeping an inventory of reagents and supplies, creating and maintaining protocols for the lab, orienting new employees to laboratory practices, and guiding lab personnel in research safety training.

- Ordering and maintenance of supplies, labware, and instruments essential to the operation of the lab.
- Planning, developing, organizing, and implementing policies, procedures, and standards for lab operations.
- Managing all lab-related calibration, preventative maintenance, repairs, service contract renewal, and equipment upgrades.
- Establish relationships with external vendors.
- Plan and coordinate large-scale facility changes, including lab reorganizations and/or expansion.
- Anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve problems associated with work within the laboratory setting, including occasional off-hours responses to laboratory emergencies.
- Work closely with our Facilities, Operations, Engineering, and Procurement teams. Other projects or responsibilities may be required.
Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
- BS or MS degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related Life Science degree with 5+ years’ experience in an industrial biotechnology setting with 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- 3+ years of wet lab experience and a broad knowledge of standard lab equipment.
- Has proven experience in laboratory housekeeping procedures, including maintaining inventory and equipment, ordering supplies, preparing solutions, maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
- Understanding of microbiology and sterile technique.
- Knowledge of EH&S regulations and requirements for laboratory safety, including methods for handling, cleaning, and disposal of waste.
- Experience and aptitude for the management of laboratory operations personnel.
Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience
- 1-2 years’ experience with Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) service.
- Experience and knowledge of ISO 17025.
- Must have experience working in a high throughput manufacturing environment and be flexible to modification in a work environment.
- Strong team management, communication, and coordination skills.
- Have a strong sense of work responsibility and cost awareness.
Salary Range
Base Salary: $90,000 to $100,000 DOE plus bonus.
Location: Newark, Delaware (On-site)
