Summary:
The Vice Chair for Research will be charged with developing a nationally known and prominent research agenda in Emergency Medicine. This role is responsible for articulating a vision of the Department's research in addition to recruiting candidates who will help fulfill that agenda. The person in this role will implement the infrastructure necessary for the agenda to be successful, as well as develop and promote projects integral to the agenda.
Qualifications:
- MD with experience working in a clinical research environment.
- Experience providing strategic direction and operational oversight of the department's research programs and activities.
- Track record of external funding through government agencies such as the NIH, AHRQ, DOD, CDC, FDA, etc. Any combination is fine.
- Experience as a principal investigator with 20 plus publications in top-tier publications like the New England Journal, JAMA, Lancet, Resuscitation journal, etc.
- Work with executive leadership to establish and measure performance metrics.
- Must be comfortable working in a matrixed department.
- Experience working in an academic institution where there are students, residents, and fellows.
Duties:
- Develop opportunities for research innovation and mentorship, both internally and externally to the Department.
- Ensure the realization of high quality and highly productive research and research education programs within established regulatory and institutional guidelines and policies.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards at an institutional, local, industry, and federal level.
- Contribute to the research mission by maintaining a personal program of research projects.
- Promote the growth and sustainability of funded research activities, actively seeking and promoting opportunities to grow resources to support the research portfolio.
- Practice fiscal stewardship to ensure the research program maintains a fiscally sustainable model.
- Assist with developing infrastructure necessary to maintain the research environment.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process in conjunction with the Chair and other Vice Chairs.
- Foster a collaborative research environment in which faculty with a research assignment can be successful.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to drive, support, and model an innovation- and entrepreneurial-oriented culture focused on high-quality clinical and translational research.
- Will be overseeing research fellowships, training programs, clinical trial programs, coordinators, etc.
Compensation:
- $400k+, bonus and stipend.
