Our client is a multi facility medical center in CA. They are part of one of the largest, most successful and decorated health systems in the United States. It offers both community based and tertiary medical services. Their location has over 400 licensed beds is a not-for-profit and fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. They have received special recognition for quality by the Joint Commission this year and won a Consumer Choice award for hospitals from the National Research Council.
They have an opening for a Infection Preventionist to help their new Director reorganize the department and help take it to the next level.
The RN Department Manager oversees and manages the clinical, operational and fiscal performance of the department. This is a twenty-four hour responsibility. Emphasis is placed on clinical expertise in Surgical and Procedural nursing. Responsibilities for the department includes: support and promotion of hospital and community, staff development, capital and operational budgets processes and functionality of the Quality Department. The Quality Department Manager assumes responsibility for the operation of a designated patient care unit on a twenty-four hour, seven day per week basis.
The Infection Preventionist develops and coordinates surveillance, education, and consultation and other assigned concurrent quality management activities in the as assigned by the Director of Quality and Safety.
Provides leadership in epidemiology and infection control.
Investigates, monitors and reports outbreaks, communicable disease exposures, and potential transmissions.
Conducts concurrent infection control surveillance and uses surveillance data to develop appropriate interventions.
Helps implement guidelines and evaluates practice to ensure that guidelines are applied consistently.
Identifies and/or responds to needs for consultation about emergency or recurrent problems that need to be resolved.
Provides consultation for regulatory compliance, construction issues, disaster and surge planning, maintenance of infection prevention and patient safety strategies, and during emergent or existing and ongoing issues.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in either Microbiology, Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, or other Healthcare related field.
- Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in infection prevention, including nursing, epidemiology, public health or related field may be substituted.
- Must be able to travel in and out of Stanislaus County, times, on short notice. Travel may also include transcontinental air flights, Must be able to travel either alone or in a group.
- Driver License, valid and in state - DL Number.
- Automobile Insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master degree in either Microbiology, Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, or other Healthcare related field.
- Registered Nurse - State Licensure.
