In this role, you will lead and manage the full fulfillment operation at an Alto Pharmacy site, playing a critical role in revolutionizing the retail pharmacy experience. In a fast-changing landscape, this role offers the opportunity to be creative, think outside of the box, develop your business acumen, and operate as a small business owner. As the Pharmacist in Charge, you will ensure compliance, safety, and high standards in medication dispensing and delivery.
As a Pharmacy Fulfillment Manager, you will have the opportunity to contribute to Alto’s broader strategy and growth. You will oversee a team of Pharmacists and Technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and employee engagement. In partnership with Alto's Recruiting and Human Resources teams, you will be responsible for identifying, hiring, training, developing, and retaining high-potential talent, while managing performance to build a top-performing team. You will drive critical business, operations, performance, business continuity, and cost goals. In partnership with Alto’s Inventory, Finance, Regulatory, and Quality teams, you will ensure key network programs, processes and systems are successfully deployed.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end site operations in a dynamic, fast-paced and evolving environment, adapting effectively to constant change.
- Ensure that the pharmacy is compliant and remains in good standing with:
- Local, Board of Pharmacy, and federal DEA, FDA, EPO rules and regulations
- Third party payor contract rules and regulations
- Policies and procedures as set forth by Alto
Create schedules and oversee staffing to optimize workflow and productivity.Oversee inventory and supply management execution, receiving, accuracy and storage.Coach and develop a team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Fulfillment Coordinators.Own deployment, training, and enforcement of business, quality, and compliance policies and procedures.Implement strategic, continuous improvement, growth, and quality programs, in partnership with delivery, inventory, and other teams.Establish and maintain quality assurance and improvement programs to ensure accurate dispensing and patient safety.Partner with finance to analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement for the site.Incorporate the principles of 5S and Kaizen into problem-solving efforts.Oversee the maintenance and calibration of pharmacy equipment and automation, where applicable.Occasional assistance with medication dispensing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy and a Licensed Pharmacist (RPh) in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy in the state where the pharmacy site is located and also in good standing for any Non Resident Licenses as dictated by business strategy.
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Fulfillment Manager or leader of a large mail order/fulfillment center/hospital system pharmacy.
- 3+ years experience leading as a Pharmacist-in-Charge.
- Expertise maintaining pharmacy compliance and interacting with regulatory authorities such as the State Boards of Pharmacy and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
- Experience making data-based decisions using analytical tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Looker to collect, analyze, and interpret data for operational excellence.
- This is not a remote or hybrid role. As a Pharmacy Fulfillment Manager, you must generally work on-site to manage the team and operations.
- Ability to respond to site emergencies when not on-site is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters of Business Administration or similar
- 1+ Years managing end-to-end pharmacy business operations, including delivery, and inventory management
- Expertise establishing and improving complex workflows within a high-volume fulfillment operation
- Experience using lean, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
- APICS, Six Sigma, or other certification
Additional Physical Job Requirements
- Lift, carry, reach, and/or push/pull various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) while using proper technique up to 35 lbs.
- Standing, walking, bending, squatting, stopping, and sitting depending on the needs of the pharmacy operation.
- Must be able to work in an environment with typical pharmacy and office noise levels with occasional exposure to light machinery, such as automated dispensers, label printers and packing equipment.
- Repetitive hand/finger motions (typing, computer mouse operation).
- Ability to work in an environment with interruptions and distractions.
- Operate all equipment necessary to do the job.
Salary And Benefits
- Salary Range: $122,400 - $153,000
- Commission Eligible: No

- Travel: Yes 100% - This position is in-pharmacy.
