Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) is looking for 2 enthusiastic colleagues to join the department of General Paediatrics. We are offering 2 x 10 PA substantive posts. These roles will support the delivery of both inpatient and outpatient general paediatrics. Applicants should have a CCT or equivalent in General Paediatrics or be within six months of achieving this at the date of interview or be listed on the GMC’s specialist register. A strong interest in Paediatric Epilepsy is essential, and previous experience of working with young people with epilepsy is required.
Main duties of the job
The postholders will be an integral part of the general paediatric service delivering weeks as the named service consultant as well as contributing to the second on call rota year round. The model of care will be that during 6 months of the year, there are 2 consultant paediatricians providing 7 day a week service from 0830-1730 and in the other 6 months there will be the service consultant plus a second consultant from 0830-1300.
General paediatrics provide rapid access clinics and routine general paediatric clinics and the postholders will be expected to deliver these. There will also be dedicated rapid access clinics for assessment of children presenting with fits, faints and funny turns, and secondary care epilepsy clinics.
An exciting new development with BrisDoc is the provision of same day telephone advice to primary care in order to avoid admission and to ensure the right care in the right place at the right time and the postholders will be expected to contribute to this new service.
