Physician, Transplant Nephrology
Join Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital’s VA Kidney Transplant Program, one of sixteen VA Hospitals throughout the United States performing life-saving solid organ (kidney, liver, heart, lung, kidney/pancreas, heart/lung) and bone marrow/stem cell procedures.
The Hines VA Transplant program is among the busiest transplant programs in Chicago and has been the most productive renal transplant program throughout the VA system for the last 3 years. Hines is the leader in the utilization of complex donors (HCV and HBV), as well as complex recipients in the VA system. The Renal Transplant Nephrology practice provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient subspecialty services including pre-transplant kidney and living donor evaluations and postoperative/long term management of kidney transplant recipients and living donors.
Our program also has a very active research portfolio with multiple publications and national presentations yearly, as well as active funded grants. There are opportunities for clinical and translational investigation in our on-campus research centers and through access to national VA-Specific funding mechanisms.
The transplant team consists of Transplant Nephrologists, Transplant Surgeons, and experienced Transplant Coordinators backed by excellent support admin, nutrition, psychology, pharmaceutical, and social work healthcare staff.
The Hines VA transplant program, in addition to Hines Hospital, offers outreach clinics at VA Clinics across the United States for evaluation and postoperative follow-up.
The energetic individual we seek will be committed to the delivery of clinical care and dedicated to teaching and medical education. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our transplant nephrologists, transplant surgeons, and multidisciplinary team in the selection and pre- and post-care of renal transplant recipients.
