Clinical Lab AssistantBlood Donor CenterPrimary schedule: Tuesday-Thursday: 9 am to 7:30 pm, Fridays: 7:30 am-6 pm. Rotating shifts to cover mobile units may be scheduled on Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Must be able to adjust schedule to maintain 40 hours while sharing component processing coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Follow safety protocols and report unsafe conditions.
- Provide compassionate care with prudent judgment.
- Interact professionally with colleagues, management, and vendors.
- Attend required safety and infection control education.
- Maintain a neat work area and secure equipment when not in use.
- Adhere to security, HIPAA, and privacy regulations.
- Follow established policies and procedures, reporting deviations to management.
- Troubleshoot blood processing workflow.
- Identify and address inconsistencies in processing or documentation.
- Perform and document quality control and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Transport and store products appropriately.
- Contribute to process improvement for efficiency and quality.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient/donor information.
- Assist with supply handling in donor centers.
- Participate in department research projects.
- Contribute to the design and layout of rooms and equipment.
- Understand and comply with safety and infection control procedures.
- Assist in whole blood collection in the donor center.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous laboratory, medical terminology, healthcare and/or customer service experience preferred.
- Experience with computers, including Microsoft Windows software.
