Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the small animal emergency and critical care faculty, oversee the management of all hospitalized cats and dogs in the intermediate, isolation and general wards. Occasionally perform primary care responsibilities for stable hospitalized patients. Supervise and train fourth year veterinary students, interns and technicians.
RECRUITMENT PERIOD: ONE MONTH: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the apply by date.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of California, or obtain a California license within 6 months from date of hire if currently licensed elsewhere.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or foreign equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years experience in small animal practice.
- Interpersonal communication skills to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience coordinating inpatient care in a multi-specialty veterinary hospital.

Department Overview:
The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) is a unit that provides clinical case material in support of the teaching programs throughout the School of Veterinary Medicine on a 24-hour basis. Its primary objectives are to train professional (veterinary) students, graduate clinical students (interns and residents), and graduate academic students; to provide veterinary services to the public; to serve as a referral center for practicing veterinarians, and to advance veterinary medical knowledge.
