POSITION SUMMARY
The Adult or Lifespan Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (APRN) functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and contributes to the team and applies to the treatment of clients the psychiatric and related skills acquired through the training and/or experience required for this position. They may provide services within one or more Wheeler programs, and the relative concentration between and within programs may change with the needs of the agency.
LOCATION
Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in Bristol, CT. Possible coverage in Hartford, CT as well. This is a NHSC approved site eligible for the loan repayment program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts psychiatric evaluations and formulates accurate diagnoses in accordance with the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM).
- Manages prescribed medication, performs mental status examinations, develops and presents clear clinical impressions and recommendations that are specific and attainable.
- Provides therapeutic interventions appropriate to specific problems.
- Develops and documents clear clinical formulations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of psychopathology and other behavioral health concerns and effective modalities of psychotherapeutic intervention.
- Triages clinical emergencies and implements program-specific safety and consultation protocols.
- Utilizes best practices and evidence-based practice models where appropriate and adheres to model and program expectations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of internal and external levels of care, referral processes and resources.
- Makes clinically appropriate referrals for identified service needs in a timely manner.
- Communicates in a positive, effective manner with clients, families, and all internal and external providers.
- Attends any required meetings and supervision.
- Meets direct service productivity goals as defined by the program.
- Documents all client-related information in compliance with agency policy.
- Attends and is prepared for scheduled supervision.
- Provides service in the office and/or community settings outside of the office (e.g., homes, schools, hospitals, institutions, other community locations) as defined by the program.
- Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served.
