Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nuclear Medical Technologist - Per Diem - NYU Langone Medical Associates - Hewlett.
In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of the Nuclear Medicine Manager, Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist, and Medical Director, performs duties directly involved in a variety of technical procedures in the application of radionuclides.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs Nuclear Medicine equipment operations including Gamma cameras, Thyroid Uptake probe, dose calibrator, and Geiger counter.
- Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
- Performs calibrations and Quality Control procedures, maintaining proper records.
- Produces accurate floods on cameras and reports abnormal calibrations on images.
- Responsible for preparing and injecting or orally administering radionuclides to patients, identifying patients and procedures.
- Maintains dose logs and properly disposes of radioactive waste.
- Adheres to competency assessments by authorized users.
- Responsible for Radiation safety, Infection Control, and all other safety regulations.
- Attends annual in-services and documents Radiation Safety and Infection Control practices.
- Enters proper exam codes into the Radiology Information System (Carestream).
- Arrives and completes exams in a timely manner.
- Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Instructs and supervises Nuclear Medicine students in clinical practice.
- Works with students to perform exams and conducts individual image evaluations.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a Technical Diploma; approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program, Associate's Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology program, or a related health field for all employees hired after August 1, 2016. For new Graduates, a Nuclear Medicine permit issued by the NYS Department of Health, New York State license in Nuclear Medicine, and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification is required. Strong communication (both written and oral), problem-solving, and customer service skills are essential. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office are also required. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment.
Required Licenses: Radiologic Tech - Temp Permit, Radiologic Tech Lic - NYS, Nuclear Med Tech Cert (NMTCB), Am Registry Of Radiologic Tech.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years of Nuclear Technologist experience.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $53.00 - $53.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
