This role will serve as an internal consultant to executives, leaders, and employees on people issues that impact individual, team, and organizational performance. Additionally, this position will proactively support and uphold human resources policies, programs and services including: retention, diversity and inclusion, talent assessment, legal and compliance issues, employee benefits, employee relations, employment practices and procedures, HRIS administration, employee communications, development, and employee events.

- Starting salary range: $83,800 - $104,800/year
Responsibilities
- Employee Relations:
- Formulate and recommend HR policies and goals that will establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee engagement and motivation.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with management and staff, providing advice, guidance and coaching as needed.
- Assist leaders from all levels in identifying, documenting, and communicating results and deficiencies in performance.
- Partner with leaders from all levels to resolve complex employee relations issues and address grievances.
- Conduct employee relations investigations as necessary.
- Talent Management:
- Administer performance management programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align staff with the strategic goals of the company.
- Perform onsite and/or virtual training on the performance management system.
- Support succession planning activities that proactively address gaps with key roles.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and leaders to identify key talent through career framework architecture and future promotional opportunities.
- Collaborate with executives acting as a change agent within their span of control.
- Empower leaders' discretionary decision making with employee concerns through coaching.
- Heavy involvement in engagement action planning.
- Training & Development:
- Work with Director, Organizational Learning & Development to develop and implement necessary training initiatives to address current capabilities and future training needs, including special training, management development, new hire orientation, and onboarding.
- Counsel managers and employees on training options, talent pipeline assessment, and development planning.
- Legal and Compliance:
- Ensure that the organization adheres to employment laws and regulations, and handle compliance-related issues and audits.
- HRIS Administration:
- Follows established procedures for updating, validating, and correcting employee records or other related HR data.
- Understand and collaborate with Payroll and Talent Acquisition colleagues for employee-related data feeds, reporting, and records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience in Human Resources or related field
- 5 years of experience in increasingly responsible positions in Human Resources, including mentoring & coaching employees, OR equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required technical, practical knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Demonstrated record of managing HR programs and practices
- Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office applications; preferred experience working with HRIS systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to create strong relationships and provide positive experiences for internal partners including executive leadership
- Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel off-site meetings, as required
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
- Insurance industry background preferred
This position may work remotely but will be required to report to our office in Madison, WI as needed. Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
