The Americas In Plant Implementation New Model Programs team has an opening for a business analyst on the New Model Program (NMP) team. Primary duties will include performing cost estimations for new model program launches as required by the Manufacturing Strategy and Advanced Planning (MSAP).
New Model Program launches differ from traditional development or enhancement projects in that the activities include hardware and network procurement, interaction with OEM’s responsible for machinery on the Plant Floor, and coordination with Manufacturing program leads, vendors and application teams, to deliver pre-defined application solutions for new engines, transmissions, battery packing and other components.
The IPI Powertrain Business Analyst will initially work under the mentorship of experienced team members, to learn how to estimate and document costs for Powertrain Operations (PTO) new model programs. Candidate should be able to visualize and estimate equipment and processes on a machining or assembly line while driving out information on IT needs from manufacturing engineers. Candidate should come up to speed quickly on manufacturing processes and IT systems in order to take over cost estimation duties from other team members. Must be able to provide quality results quickly, as some cost study turnaround times are only a few days in duration. Must be able to explain the cost drivers, to defend the estimate.
- High school diploma required, Associates Degree or Bachelors of Science preferred
- 5+ years experience in Power Train preferred
- Experience in capturing customer requirements and translating into IT system requirements and associated costs
- Strong leadership and relationship management skills (e.g. supplier and business partner relationship)
- Experience with procurement, and finance and Powertrain Manufacturing processes.
- Experience utilizing desktop tools to communicate (Instant Messaging, WebEx, Audio Conference, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint
- Experience in the automotive manufacturing environment is a plus
- Experience with manufacturing plant floor systems is a plus
- Strong organizational skills
- High organizational, planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced and complex environment that changes rapidlyOutstanding communication and networking skills for interfacing with IT and Business Management at all levels

- Conduct New Model Program studies for Powertrain programs
- Create and maintain study templates
- Lead NMP Study process for PTO (Powertrain Operations)
- Conduct regular in-process NMP Study meetings
- Consolidate NMP Study response to provide a total view of IT requirements and associated costs
- Update the New Model Program cycle plan with current milestone costs as submitted in MyQ
- Input study responses and associated requirements documentation into MyQ
- Refine estimation process by analyzing historical estimates against actual costs
- Financial / Procurement
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Control, Purchasing, Vendors, and IT Managers to assure timely delivery of equipment and services
- Assist with purchase orders through Ford financial activities and to the Vendors
- Assist with uncommitted funding reviews
- Project Management
- Participate in Program Status meetings
- Participate with R/Y/G Status of in-flight programs for input into BPR and Status Meetings
- Status Review Meetings
- Consolidate current implementation status, funding status, issues and risks
- Attend and present at program-specific Reviews
- Facilitate monthly NMP status meetings with IT and Manufacturing Engineering management
- Secondary duties will include financial analysis and procurement assistance.
