Position Summary: Epic Informaticist
The Epic Informaticists will support work out of our NY & NJ care delivery offices to establish and grow our emerging support service line. Informaticists play a critical role in providing education and support to providers and other clinical care teams to improve their efficiency and utilization of the EPIC EHR platform. They serve as a liaison between end-users, project team members and other Information Technology resources while providing exemplary customer support to assess and address the clinicians' needs and objectives. Solid candidates for this role will be able to demonstrate self-motivation, individual leadership, and team collaboration. Working hand in hand with clinical, operational, and IT leadership you will ensure the continued operational success required to support the organization. This role requires you to be detail oriented, organized, highly self-motivated and driven towards excellence.
This position is full time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8am - 5pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 480 Bedford Rd, Chappaqua, NY 10514. Employees are required to work 2-3 days work from home or office.
This will be 8 weeks on-the-job training and the hours during training will be 8am to 5pm, Monday - Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides 1:1 "at-the-elbow" support to practicing physicians, advanced practitioners, and other providers
- Works with operational and clinical leaders to manage various workflow improvement projects involving the EHR
- Improves the EHR through optimizing SmartTools and clinical decision support tool build
- Co-leads a monthly in-person training & optimizations courses for providers & other licensed practitioners
- Demonstrates a good knowledge base of the fundamentals of the Epic EHR system
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships as well as strong written and verbal communications skills
- Provides regular updates and documentation regarding progress with individual providers
- Partners closely with the Chief Information Medical Officer (CMIO) and training team leads to supervise, teach, and guide Provider Superusers
- Partners and collaborates with Epic Optimization team members (non-provider)
- Identifies system issues that arise in the application area as well as issues that impact other application teams and works with them to resolve the issues
- Willingness to travel to the various Optum Tri-State clinical locations to provide in-person optimization
- Regularly reviews the Epic help desk queue support log with clinical team members and provides guidance as needed
- Re-directs questions and enhancement requests to appropriate team members as needed
- Broad understanding of the clinical and operational workflows and able to support the clinical aspects of Epic for the users
- Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
- Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc (i.e. Epic UGM/XGM, Epic Userweb content, Power User classes, Physician Builder certification)
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/ GED
- Ability to obtain Epic Informaticist certification within a (1) year
- 2+ years' clinical experience
- 3+ years' working with clinical systems, predominately ambulatory EMR-based platforms
- Ability to travel to clinical sites up to 50% of the time
- Ability to work onsite and travel to physician offices for workflow and optimization assessments
- Knowledge of value-based healthcare with the ability to develop and apply system solutions to operational requirements
- Proficient with the full Microsoft Office 365 Suite of applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
- Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills when interacting with all levels of the organization
- Effectively and efficiently work with peers within IT, along with clinical and operational teams
- Knowledge of project management frameworks and methodologies
- Knowledge of relevant operational and clinical workflows
- Ability to work 8am to 5pm, Monday - Friday
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years' clinical experience
- 5+ years' working with clinical systems, predominately ambulatory EMR-based platforms
- Epic certification (Informaticist Program)
- Knowledge of IT applications, technologies, and systems
- Knowledge of relevant operational and clinical workflows
- In-depth knowledge of Epic EMR and the full implementation lifecycle of Epic's suite of EMR applications
- Ability to demonstrate and have a history of team management (informal or formal), cross-team communication and leadership skills
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
- Consultative and collaborative style with demonstrated ability with cross-functional teams
- Ability to build and maintain solid internal relationships as well as motivate and inspire other team members through solid consultative skills
- Ability to build partnerships and influence others
- Any type of medical license

- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy

New York Residents Only: The salary range for this is $88,000 - $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
