BROWARD SPECIALTY SURGICAL CENTER is seeking a motivated PreOp/Pacu Registered Nurse to join our team. Broward Specialty Surgical Center is a fast-paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.
The Pre-Op/PACU nurse is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing for the continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patients' condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Florida Nursing License
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Pre-Op/PACU
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
- Understand principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
- Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
- Knowledge base to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions of the patient when needed
- Excellent teaching skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrate strong professional and ethical behavior
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, and fellow employees (TEAMWORK)
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrate accountability, creativity, innovation, and be receptive to change
- Possess basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
- GI experience a plus
Qualifications:
- Effective customer service techniques.
- Intermediate understanding of computers.
- Ability to calm and diffuse customers.
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills
- Ability to escalate appropriate inquiries or problems to managers.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with staff, patients, guarantors, insurance companies, and physicians.
- Demonstrated attention to detail; Good English speaking, spelling, reading, and mathematical skills required.
- Demonstrate ability to learn quickly, and follow directions as outlined in policies or given by Supervisor.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge in Word, Excel and ability to maneuver through multiple screens in a timely manner.
- 1+ year of medical office/hospital/medical billing work experience preferred.
- Medical terminology knowledge strongly preferred.
- Insurance knowledge required.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast and high-pressured environment
- Stringent adherence to all HIPAA laws
- Strong typing skills (45 and up wpm) is required.
- Strong analytical skills, problem solving. The ability to act and decide accordingly.
- Excellent customer service and phone skills with a background in the medical industry
- Ability to travel to off-site locations (Outpatient only)
