We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manager to oversee the operations of two clinics: the Dermatology clinic and the Infectious Disease/Traveler's clinic. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective delivery of general dermatology care and dermatology procedures including Mohs surgery in the Dermatology clinic and general management of patients with infectious diseases, including wound/surgical infections and oversight of the Ryan White HIV program in the Infectious Disease clinic. Both clinics see a wide range of ages in their populations. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage staff and operations across both clinics.
As the manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a complement of clinical team members, including RNs, LPNs, and CMAs between the two clinics. Normal clinic hours are 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. You will have flexibility in determining which days you are scheduled to be at either clinic. Both clinics are on the main grounds of UVA near the Medical Center.
Manages the practice of professional nursing and patient care delivery within Ambulatory Operations. Provides clinical supervision and is responsible for daily operations of ambulatory clinic(s). Primary responsibilities include human resource management, financial management, and performance improvement activities. Works collaboratively with the Medical Director and Patient Access leadership to optimize patient access, operational efficiency, practice productivity, patient satisfaction and team member engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Creates, monitors, and analyzes budgets to explain variances and conduct ongoing evaluation of productivity, and participates in capital budgeting process.
- Develops and implements staffing models and plans to support within and top of scope practice and to support provider templates and patient population needs.
- Interviews, selects, mentors, and evaluates clinical and administrative team members.
- Facilitates orientation and onboarding activities, evaluation effectiveness of orientation.
- Responsible for continuous performance management and professional development of clinical team members and conducts formal performance appraisals.
- Administers corrective performance counseling and administrative action appropriately.
- Assesses team member satisfaction and develops and implements strategies to promote retention and to recognize and reward team members.
- Leads performance improvement activities, identifying key performance indicators, evaluating performance data, and responding to outcome measure findings.
- Assesses patient experience data and develops strategies to address satisfaction issues.
- Promotes evidence-based practices, monitors patient safety, reports adverse events, and facilitates real-time-root-cause problem solving.
- Supports a culture of innovation by integrating technology into patient care processes and using information systems to support business decisions.
- Facilitates change and participates in project management and strategic planning activities within Ambulatory Operations to enhance the UVA Health strategic plan.
- Builds and maintains strong interdisciplinary relationships through influence, communication, collaboration, and shared decision-making and understands components of culture competence as applicable to the healthcare workforce.
- Monitors and promotes workplace safety requirements and maintains survey and regulatory readiness.
- Practices ethical behavior and supports nursing standards and scopes of practice.
- Maintains clinical competency to provide patient care as needed.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $104,062.40 - $138,819.20 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within 5 years of hire.
Experience: 3 years of progressively more responsible experience as a registered nurse in a patient care environment required.
Licensure: License to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Valid Virginia Driver's license required for managers with responsibility operations in multiple locations. Must have applicable specialty certification at hire or within 3 years.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master's Degree preferred.
Experience: OB/GYN and/or women's health experience. Management experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
